This paper studied the quantities and fauna component of soil
microorganism in shelterforest with different stand conditions,
different ages, and in different seasons; and shelterforest composed of different kinds of plants. The relation between quantities of soil microorganisms and soil environmental factors was analyzed also. The results indicated that after establishing of the shelterforest and artificial greenbelt along the
Tarim Desert Highway soil structure and nutrient status have been improved, and the quantities of soil microorganisms increased sharply. Among soil microorganisms, bacteria were predominant, actinomyces were at second and fungi were the least. There were more microorganisms in upper soil than ones in down soil. Outside shelterforest, soil microorganisms near shelterforest have higher activity, and the quantities of soil microorganisms 3 m far away from shelterforest were almost equal to ones of shifting sand. The quantities of soil microorganisms vary with seasons, and there are distinct differences among quantities of soil microorganisms in forests under different stand conditions. The quantities of microorganisms and soil nutrient increase greatly with time elapsing, and the change will be much more obvious. Moreover, the distribution of microorganisms had the distinct relation to contents of soil nutrient and soil pH value.
