WT5BZ?1/2144 soil samples were collected along the moisture gradient in grassland region of the
Mongolian Plateau for investigating
soil microbial biomass C (?C?a-a(c)m?i?c ) and N(?N?a-a(c)m?i?c ), and their relations to annual average temperature and rainfall. The results are as followings:
soil microbial biomass C and N showed significant correlations with soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, precipitation, and temperature. ?C?a-a(c)m?i?c ranged from 51.7 to 797mg?kga?a(c)-1 ; ?N?a-a(c)m?i?caa from 11 to 118.6mg?kga?a(c)-1 ; ?C?a-a(c)m?i?c ∶?N?a-a(c)m?i?c from 5 to 9, and ?C?a-a(c)m?i?c /?C?a-a(c)o?r?g from 1.15Abstract ?1/4soil microbial biomass C (?C?a-a(c)m?i?c ) and N(?N?a-a(c)m?i?c ), and their relations to annual average temperature and rainfall. The results are as followings: Soil microbial biomass C and N showed significant correlations with soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, precipitation, and temperature. ?C?a-a(c)m?i?c ranged from 51.7 to 797mg?kga?a(c)-1 ; ?N?a-a(c)m?i?caa from 11 to 118.6mg?kga?a(c)-1 ; ?C?a-a(c)m?i?c ∶?N?a-a(c)m?i?c from 5 to 9, and ?C?a-a(c)m?i?c /?C?a-a(c)o?r?g from 1.15% to 4.1%. ?C?a-a(c)m?i?c /?C?a-a(c)o?r?g was correlative negatively with soil organic C, total N, and annual average precipitation. Soil respiration showed a decreasing trend: meadow steppe a(c)>typical steppe> desert steppe, correlating positively with precipitation, and negatively with temperature. The relationship of metabolic quotient CO 2 (?Q?a-a(c)C?O 2 ) with precipitation can fit in quadratic equation. Effect of grazing on soil microbial biomass depends on grassland types and grazing intensity. ?1/4WTHZ?1/2
