This paper uses the theory of pedodiversity and its measurement to analyze the diversity of soils developed from different
major landforms by using 1:1 M SOTER database. The results showed diversity index of the soils followed the sequence:level land-plain,
sloping land-medium-
gradient mountain, sloping land-medium-gradient hill, level land-valley floor, sloping land-medium-gradient escarpment zone, level land-depression and steep land-high-gradient mountain; the evenness index followed the sequence: sloping land-medium-gradient mountain, level land-plain, level land-valley floor, sloping land-medium-gradient hill, level land-depression and sloping land-medium-gradient escarpment zone, steep land-high-gradient mountain; the richness index followed the sequence:level land-plain, sloping land-medium-gradient hill, sloping land-medium-gradient mountain, level land-depression(level land-valley floor, sloping land-medium-gradient escarpment zone), steep land-high-gradient mountain. The area distribution of the soils developed on different types of terrain components at various degrees seemed to fit the logarithmic normal distribution model.
