Analysis of Drying Dynamics and Critical Safe Temperature for Vegetable Seeds

Article Abstract by: TsingHua

According to the physiological and biochemical characteristics of vegetable seeds, a two path infrared radiation vibra
fluidized drying machine was developed. On the basis of drying dynamics equation the drying parameters which can save energy and insure seed viability were analyzed. The temperature rise rate of seed is extremely important to the viability of vegetable seeds. It is 1 1℃/min recommended in this paper. The average temperature of seeds during the experiment is 43 3℃. In order to ensure the viability of vegetable seeds, a critical safe temperature equation, Chu Yang T cv equation was established. With the equation when the initial moisture content increases by 1%, the critical temperature decreases by 0 4℃; when the drying time increases by 1 h , the critical temperature decreases by 1 3℃. In Ptitsyn equation, T cg , the critical temperature for grain, is higher than T cv by 7 7~11 9℃, therefore T cg can not ensure the viability of vegetable seeds. The T cv equation not only provides theoretical basis for drying vegetable seeds, but also has important meaning in engineering.
