A field experiment was conducted to standardize appropriate
propagation techniques for
calotropis procera. The experiment included three types of
cuttings viz., basal, middle and terminal and three
growth regulators viz., IBA and NAA alone and in combination. Among the three types of cuttings tried terminal cuttings rooted well than other two types of cuttings with 59.18 per cent of
rooting under open and 65.72 per cent under mist condition, 10.42 and 10.54 number of roots under open as well as mist condition, 20.49cm and 21.35cm length roots and 24.89cm and 25.97cm length shoot in open and mist condition respectively and 42.73 per cent and 51.22 per cent mainfield survivelance with terminal cuttings rooted under open and mist condition.
Cuttings treated with IBA @ 500ppm registered the maximum rooting per cent of 56.94 (open) and 61.02 (mist), 9.94 (open) and 10.73 (mist) number of roots, 21.80cm (open) and 22.94cm (mist) length root, shoot length of 26.81cm (open) and 28.06cm (mist) and 44.10 per cent and 47.89 per cent main field survivelance under open as well as mist rooted cuttings.
The terminal cuttings treated with IBA at 500ppm recorded the highest rooting percent (86.66), number of roots (11.21), root length (24.98cm), shoot length (29.40cm) and main field survive lance (68.13%) under open condition and the same treatment also registered the 90 percent rooting, 11.47 number of roots, 23.75cm root length, 30.64cm shoot length and 71.20 per cent main field survive lance under mist condition. Whereas control recorded the lowest per cent of rooting, number of roots, root and shoot length and main field survive lance percentage under both open as well as mist condition
