Public Speaking has long been an issue in the UK and how to go about teaching it is a great prop - the student - the lecturer - has a background in Public Speaking. The County gave me a position as a Lecturer in Public Speaking and my students came from the
Young Farmers Club and were interested in Green Issues and
Agriculture so I prepared a class for them with specific references to Agriculture. Horses, cows and ducks that sort of thing had been a big event in childhood and I got to know the farm
animals well and sort out milking
time for churning time and getting up in the
morning to round up the sheep with coming back late at
night from cutting down the corn and making it into funny shapes or sorting out the food for the animals morning noon and night and last but not least exercising the dogs and the horses ...... all part of the Agriculture of this country the UK.
Public Speaking can be a focus for one''s student but also I had to draw exclusively on my own background as a Public Speaker ......... I was a Public Speaker in London in 1969 and I won the Young Public Speaker Award from the Industrial Society in London ..... It was in all the papers .. agriculture has a general application and a wide interest prevails in the UK!
