This is a great book by a superhuman! The author's technical yet lucid
and sometimes reflective narrative makes you
think about the cosmos and
leaves you awestruck with the fascinating secrets of the
universe.
Though not as straightforward for a layman as some reviews make it out
to be, the book is quite comprehensible even if you did not study
astrophysics and
relativity at school.
The author explains concepts
like relativity, curvature of space time, possibility of time-travel etc and opines on
controversial issues like the origin of the universe. Further, he even
takes you into the realm of metaphysics by reflecting on God and
purpose of the universe.
What touches you is the fact that the author, a nobel laureate and arguably the tallest
living authority in the astophysics world today, is humble enough to
acknowledge his limited understanding. He sums up the spirit of science
in one sentence - "I want to know the mind of God!"
