Everyone likes babies’ right? Well it would seem that for some time Ontario and many other provinces hated babies. Yep, you read it right; we might as well have been known as the nation of “infant hate” because of our policies regarding postnatal screening tests. Before the McGintey government stepped in our hospitals were only screening for two basic tests after birth. This is miniscule when compared to the 75 disorders that are screened for in the state of California. So why is it that we chose to not screen for many of these disorders that might have saved many babies lives over the past years when the technology was readily available. Was it because we didn’t really like babies all that much, maybe they cry a little too much? They can’t really do anything that great I guess, but old people don’t really do a whole lot for us either and we test them for an ass load of diseases that will only help them live like 4 more days. Fortunately the McGintey Government has set aside $15 Million to provide testing for a variety of disorders that previously went unchecked. It will cost approximately $8 million fro all of the new equipment and the rest of the money will be set aside to provide for the annual costs of the testing. The Save the Babies foundation estimates that it will cost the government approximately 1 million a year in order to test for the 27 new disorders.
Some would argue that this money may be better spent in other facets of health care. Well, these people are assholes, I like to refer to them as members of the national association of zealots for Infant haters, or Nazi’s for short (nobody has taken that right?). Anyway, if you don’t like babies then I guess it would make sense not to spend any more money on them but then your also a huge dick and nobody else really cares what you think anyway.
