Harvey, W. is one such great personality to have such kind of perceptions. In 17th centuries scientific explorations are subjected to strict rules and procedures with those kinds of restrictions merely it would become impossible to think about the research. In his Galenic school, most of his explanations observed with scientific method were rejected. Later he was able to publish a small volume about his investigation, in which he has given the counter to all his critics.
Based on the counters he has presented in his small volume, many contemporary scientists have also extended their support to Harvey. As he gained enough appreciation to his work, the elderly physician has focused his attention to the field of embryology and was able to predict the cellular interactions involved in the generation of offspring 200 years back, when some powerful microscopes were developed to crosscheck his accuracy. This made Harvey to publish a book during 1651 with the title ‘ Essays on the generation of Animals ’.
Sir William Osler has stated that for the first time in the history of research, Harvey has presented the scientists an idea about the scientific investigation. According to him, a scientific investigation should be truly based on the evidence arrived through the experiment and should be allowed to come at a conclusion naturally, but firmly from the observations, which Harvey has done in his embryology research. Besides, he has given a great deal of knowledge to the field of medicine. The observations that Harvey made has influenced the field of medical research and refined the processes with many medical discoveries. Therefore, the field of medicine have geared up with a great speed never before. Just like any other scientist in the beginning of their fresh field of investigation, this great scientist have also faced lot of hurdles to prove his mastery, but finally succeded.
