DNA

Book Abstract by: kamdemonn

Original Author: Kamlesh Kholiya
Have you ever wondered why you have same eyes as your mother’s and why do you look like your father??? The answer is simple...
DNA Yes, this compound is getting attention day-by-day because of it’s properties. It is indeed very fascinating to know that our hereditary characters are transferred from parent to child through “DNA”. DNA is the abbreviation for “DEOXYRIBOSE NUCLEIC ACID”. It is a very complex compound made up of many proteins integrated to form a structure which represents a “Helical staircase”. This model of DNA was discovered by Watson & Crick in early 1950’s. They even got a Nobel peace prize for their research on DNA. This multi-functional compound also helps in formation of many proteins required for many activities like respiration, assimilation, digestion, etc. We still don’t know all of it’s properties and uses therefore for studying DNA, research is being promoted on a large scale in many countries. There is a new technology emerging through we can generate sufficient immune power in our children even before their birth. For Example, The gene which causes cancer is present in DNA and is called as “Oncogene” and when a person smokes or drinks in higher levels then this oncogene is activated which stimulates formation of tumour(sudden growth of cells) resulting in cancer. Through this technology we can remove oncogene from the gene of the child when it is a Zygote(single-celled) so that he never suffers from cancer. This technology is called DNA-recombinant technology. We can also develop hybrid varieties of plants which can resist many harmful conditions and also give higher yield as compared to previous generations. Therefore with the help of proper research in this field we can turn a desert to a splendid green forest with flowers blossoming everywhere. This will make our Mother Earth a better place to live.
