What is nematodes?
It is worms what they survive in the ground and water, causing diseases. They attack human, animals and vegetate. They destroy roots of beetroot and cabbage – flower, e.g., causing a global damage for 100 million dollars by year on agriculture. The combat by traditional ways is through toxic pesticides, but the view can change with the discovery of a gene that commands the resistance of the vegetable to the action of these parasites. The discovery was done in the University of Kiel in Germany and it resulted from mixture of luck with the analysis of the protein produced by the gene.
