Malarial parasite is germ which lives in the body of mosquito which is its carrier. When the mosquito bites us, it
injects malarial parasite or plasmodium into our blood. Thus we get malaria.
The best way to do this is to
prevent
breeding of mosquitoes. This can be done as follows:
1) fill with mud the puddles around the houses which have stagnant water
2) the water of storage tank or reservoir should be changed at least once a week
3) put a thin film of oil on the surface of water in a big pool
4) DDT should be sprayed in houses at regular intervals in limited quantity
The insect borne diseases other than malaria can also be prevented by checking the growth of the insects that carry specific germs and spread these diseases. Preventive measures to check the spread of
communicable
diseases are as follows:
A) The patient should be kept in a separate room. Do not allow the children to go near the patient.
B) The occurrence of diseases should be reported to the proper authority that is primary health center.
C) The germs of the room, clothes and bedding should be killed by sunlight and disinfectants. The sick person’s room must be sprayed with chemicals.
D) The home and hits surroundings should always be kept neat and clean.
E) Take vaccination and other precautions against the disease.
F) Rubbish, garbage and waste from houses should be thrown the proper places meant for the purpose.
G) Consult the doctor and follow his advice and instructions.
Communicable diseases can be prevented. The government health deportment has the responsibility to fight this problem. You can help in this fight. Our country has undertaken a big program of immunization. Under this program, it is expected that all children will be immunized against childhood communicable diseases.
