The Blindwatchmaker

Article Abstract by: Navs

Original Author: Richard Dawkins
The human brain has effectively over its period of existence on the earth been able to find an explanation for most of the
phenomena experienced, and is actively dedicated to those which still grope us. However there are certain questions that shall never be completely answered on our lifetime, some of those are of that pertaining to evolution and the presence of a omnipotent creator.Richard Dawkins in his book The Blindwatchmaker has very craftily handled the both these topics and not only so but also gone on to explain why the theory of evolution of life on the earth doesn't require the presence of a creator. The book contains numerous examples of adaptations of living beings right from the mating habits of beetles to the navigation abilites of bats and marine life forms. However what is even more interesting is the clever use of analogies by Dawkins to explain how life was 'created' on earth from simple abiotic molecules to complex cellular and acellular structures containing the genetic material and their replication machinery. It goes without saying that Dawkins has vehemently diasgreed with the presence of a God using the very same principles that explain the presece of life. He argues as to whether the manifestation of an "Intellligent God" can be explained when it itself would be the work of careful planning and evolution. The book would no doubt infuriate the theologists but it would also provide some very fresh fodder to fertile minds that are open to acknowledging scientific facts and urging them to explore by means of hypothesising what lies unknown before them. The book is a must read for all student of biology who wish to take courses related to evolutionary biology and ecology.
