The new concern has spread in US and Canada over the finding of deadly
salmon virus.The virus was detected in wild salmon for the first time
on the West Coast. This new finding really made the scientists shocked due to their fast spread.
The US scientists announced that they had found the influenza-like
virus in two juvenile sockeye salmon obtained from the province's
central coast. The virus, which doesn't affect humans, has caused
losses at fish farms in Chile and other areas, and could have
devastating impacts on wild salmon in the region and other species
that depend on them.
This new virus can spread to many parts of the world and pose a
terrible threat since fish don't have any boundaries in the ocean and
salmon species stray. Salmons live in many parts of the world's water territory.
Actually the virus showed its symptoms last year but then it vanished
without any signs of recurrences. No further researches were conducted
that time. But this time, the scientists couldn't under estimate this
kind of virus any longer.
The further research and surveillance should be increased to
understand how broadly the virus is distributed, in what species, how
fish are infected and other information needed in order to prevent
from the worst effect caused by this virus.
Researchers in Canada will soon conduct their own tests and analysis
due to this case.
Lets hope that this new finding will not cause severe damage to our
environment and the scientist will soon find the ways to overwhelm this
problem.
