Fermentation Technology is one of the oldest microbial technologies practised by human civilizations in the past . Even in Hindu and other mythologies references about
Fermentation of milk , fruit juices were mentioned in detail.
Today's fermentation Technology has developed so much that it's horizons touch many fields , industries and various other applications that help humanity to over come many of its contemporary problems .
One of the recent advances in fermentation technology is fermentation of
cellulosic and
hemicellulosic substrates by Candida Shehatae and other yeasts to produce Bioethanol , which will replace fossil
fuels in the future . As fossil fuels will be completely exhausted in a few decades from Now , Major countries around the world have already initiated R & D projects worth several billions including India . Many pioneer institutions / Universities all over India are working on the increased yield of bioethanol from Cellulosic substrates .
I will share the bottle necks faced by humanity in the fermentation of cellulosic and hemicellulosic substrates
