Sperm bank offers Crowe, Becks, Ledger’s lookalikes!
Science and technology has changed the way of
living to a great extent, and we have started to forget the past simple life our ancestors used to live. The material centric approach to life is now the most important mantra for all of us. The increased comfort level driving us to enhance it to farther height, which one day might boomerang to face distress equivalent to the comfort we seek. Our need and desire level too have changed to newer heights, and we are trying to defy the nature.
The latest trend of desire could be on children with specific look. We see in some countries, especially India, a big chunk of population always wanted to have a baby boy the first issue. When science showed the way to foretell the sex of the baby quite in early stage of pregnancy, people went for abortion after knowing the baby is a girl. Now, the science is able to give specific look to the yet to born baby, and I am sure many women will opt for their particular choice in due course.
The California based company ‘Cryobank’ maintains sperm of thousands of different donors, of which there are celebrities too. Those celebrities are from assorted fields like acting, sports…making a wide choice for the chooser to deliberate with. The problem for the prospective buyer is that they can opt for a particular look, not anything else. A David Beckham look alike might even hate the game of football (Soccer). The buyer is not entitled to know the identity of the donor, not even to see the picture of the donor. The problem list of the buyer does not end here. The most unexciting point is the company’s declaration of ‘no guarantee’ on the specific look one is asking for, as we know, a baby does not necessarily look like his/her father.  Although it is not mentioned what would be the tariff for an expected look, i.e. particular sperm for conceiving. Leave aside the cost factor and uncertainty, even if the look comes out matching the expected one, what about the quality? Quality too remains uncertain until the baby grows to be an adult person. Overall, is it lucrative to go for?
The news report in the Daily Telegraph has mentioned a list of people, whose looks can be accomplished. David Beckham, Russel Crowe, Heath Ledger, Ben Affleck, Hugh Grant, Ben Stiller, Harry Potter, Daniel Redcliffe are some modern day celebrities whose looks are presumed to be sought after by the modern women.
According to the sperm bank, donor # 11385 would give a true Beckham look and # 11942 would resemble Ledger.
