The researchers in the University of Texas Southern Medical Centre conducted tests on mice, which has the same brain pleasure centers as that of human, and pinpointed a hormone name ‘ghrelin’. They said that this hormone is responsible to resist the temptation, and we indulge in consuming those varieties of sweets, pastries, cakes, etc. if we accept the findings of the scientists, then we are not to be blamed for the over stuffing the already stuffed stomach. The chemical affects the brain that instructs us to eat high calorie foods, said the lead scientist of the study, Dr. Mario Perello, to the Daily Express. On occasions, when there is no need to consume any food, we treat ourselves with appealing food items for no other reason than the instruction from the brain, informed the co-scientist Dr. Jeffrey Zigman.
The harm that we inflict on us is not gone because it is not our greediness for eating excess food, but knowing the cause of our added attraction on sweet dishes, we may be able to control ourselves adequately.
The study results are scheduled to be published in the journal of Biological Psychiatry, according to the report.
