CURRENT SITUATION IN THE REGION In the last 10 years there has been no
investment carried out in the
energy production area ( due to excess in capacity) .
By 2007 the consumption should equal the available supply.If no
investment is carried out, there will be a shortage in the energy suppy across the region.
Governments, Energy Companies and Financial Institutions across the region held a
conference in september2005, as part of the southern Africa Power Pool( SAPP). to discuss stratigic steps to avert this energy shortage.
A strategic plan was put in motion at that conference , to identify and choose priority projects to start the necessary coordinated investments regionally.
