Disasters, man made or natural, have become common phenomenon in India. Every now and then Indian sub-continent faces such kind of
Disasters. Number of innocent people becomes the victims. Property of crores of rupees perished within some time. The only reason is that the lack of proper
management.
Today, we have grabbed all fields of success. Sky or moon is our next destinations. But disasters destroy our envy. Cyclones, floods, earthquakes and drought left their trails of deaths and distructions.Earthquakes that hit Bhuj in Gujarat, (Killari) Latur in Maharastra, Costal Kerala and Tamilnadu always hit by cyclone that causes hundreds of deaths. Flood is very common in Monsoon in North India specially; big rivers like Ganga and Bramhputra gulp many lives every year. Drought forces farmers to commit suicide in Maharastra ,Andrapradesh and Karnataka.
Like that man made disasters are not less . Every day, we watch in T.V. and read in newspaper that hundreds of people meet death because of manual mistakes. Head-on collisions involving two trains or other vehicles have become frequent. The mid air collision, involving plane crash. A decade ago,Bangalore,Trivandrum express plunged into the Asthamudi lake in Kerala.The accident occurred because of improper maintenance of the bridge over the lake.
On 20th Nov.2007,a judgement was passed by the court about Uphaar cinema hall fire case which happened in 1997 that burnt 50 people.It was taken place only because of improper management system.
Our cities are become prone to unplanned urbanization.The slums get engulfed in fire brigade are known to arrive late at the place of Amarnath meet some tragedies every year.Continuous rainfall and unfriendly terrain hampered relief work.These are all disastrous accidents, both man made and natural,caused human life and property.
The most important reason of these sufferings are lack of proper knowledge and unavailability of resources at sametime.Large strata of society is unaware with management system.When disaster occure,the only reaction peole show is fear ! That mar even rescue operations.Govt.does its duty, but wide public participation in disaster management is necessary. People should be trained to face the disasters which occurred frequenty.Permanant remedies should be finding to face such natural calamities and save lives. Media can be proved an effective medium to educate common citizen to tackle with these disasters. As far as man made disasters are concern, violation of laws should be panelized strictly.
