EARTH AT RISK (Survey of global ecosystems)

Article Abstract by: Michael786

Original Author: S.K.Jha,M.A.Jafri
Forests, freshwater systems, coastal and marine habitats, grasslands agricultural lands are reflecting withering signs at the
turn of the millennium. These major types of ecosystems have suffered a great deal thanks to unceasing tendency of human beings across the world aimed at endless exploitation of natural resources.our greed has devasted planet earth so much so that it can hardly meet our need for long if we fail to restrain ourselves immediately. We have already lost half of the wet lands of the world. Unwelcome human activities have endangered 50% of the coral reefs. Soil degradation has enveloped 80% of the grasslands. While ground water level is declining all over the world, 20% of the dreamlands are likely to turn into deserts. Survival of our home planet really depends on how we respond to critical condition of various types of ecosystems of the earth.
