Big Ben
Big Ben is not the name of the clock or the tower. It is the name of it''s 13 ton bell named after Sir Benjamin Hall, a London politician of the time.
Big Ben first started working in1859. Its tower is nearly100 meters high and the clock face is about 8 meters wide. The minute hand is about 4 meters long.
This amazing clock stopped on May 29th , 2005. It was 10:20 p.m. and the hands only started to move again 90 minutes later. Some people think it was because of the unusual hot weather. But maybe the old machine is just tired.
