The geology of the chad basin offers promises to prospective investors and science in general.
Its peculiarity stems from the fact that it is the least explored of all the rift basins in the world. magnetic data obtained by the nigerian geological survey, and interpreted by quantitative as well as qualitative methods suggest the existence of diapiric structures and dense minerals in the basin.
several structures within the basin make for an ideal structural trap suited to the accumulation of Oil and Gas deposits. Similarly, the proximity of the Basin to the Older granites suggest the possibility of solid mineral emplacement within the deposits. Several structures in the basin displayed magnetic signatures associated with dense minerals such as Gold and Cassiterite. Interestingly, Cassiterite is mined in the adjacent areas of the rift, including the lower parts of the Benue trough.
