Facts about SUN -
The sun rotates like a giant flaming top at a speed of 280 kilometers per second.
as it is composed of dense gases ,the period of one rotation cannot be uniform all over.Near the equator it spins once in 25 days ,but near the poles it takes 35 to 38 days.
Sun travels with  its entire family of planets  and other attendants at the speed of 19 kms per seconds. It travels among billions of stars of the Galaxy.
The sun is not spotless ,the sun spots are darker and cooler than their surrounding areas .Some spots can measure 145000 kms longand 96000 kms wide. These spots are caused by vortices or whirling storms in the solar atmosphere.
The surface gravity is 28 times greater on the sun.in another words ,a person can lift 50 kilograms on earth would be crushed by its weight as it would weigh 1400 kilograms there.
During a Solar Eclipse when the suns disc is completly blotted out by moon ,red flames and silvery corona are observed above the chromosphere of the Sun.
