STUDY National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) found that cold lakes in the world is now experiencing an increase in temperature at a rate faster than the air temperature.
Two scientists have used NASA satellite data to monitor the number of 104 lakes in the world. On average, they found that the temperature of the lakes has increased by 1.1 degrees Celsius since 1985.
The rate was increased by two and a half times more than the global temperature in the same period
Lake Ladoga, Russia, and Lake Tahoe in the United States (U.S.) showed the most significant warming temperatures, said study co-author, Simon Hook is a scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California, USA.
Lake Tahoe warming increased the temperature to 1.7 degrees Celsius since 1985, Lake Ladoga and the highest increase, up to 2.2 degrees Celsius.
The study of lake temperature increase was published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters recently.
Hook and colleagues using several satellite and see the infrared thermal images of the lakes during winter and summer.
They also confirm these figures by comparing it with data collected
It coincides with what we see through the measurements of air temperature, "said Hook.
The researchers acknowledge that they are quite surprised to know that some lakes showed reading improvement over the previous heating temperatures.
"The next question is why the lakes is increasing faster than hot air or land," said Hook.
One reason it happens is because the lake water takes longer to cool than land.
NASA climate scientist, Gavin Schmidt acknowledged that the results of research done an acceptable reason
Obviously, the result of information obtained from a study that adds another independent measurement system to verify global warming.
In statistics, a total of 11 different indicators are used, including air temperature, humidity, snow cover, ocean heat content shows a man-made global warming, while there is no environmental standards showed otherwise, said Ocean and Atmospheric Administration National Wildlife.
On average worldwide, a total of 41 lake temperatures increased significantly, 59 the increase is unclear but the effect of the lake, while only four showed a decrease in temperature.
