The Potential of Natural Resources in Jordan (Phosphate-soil-Groundwater)

Article Abstract by: Vijay Bhagat

Original Author: Dr. Gerd Wiesemann
This article is devoted to analyse the potential of different renewable and non-renewable natural resources e.g. phosphate,
soil and groundwater in Jordan for economic development. These are three separate topic of research in applied geosciences. The author used sophisticated methods for the analysis. He has given the specific objectives for analysis of the potential of different resources in economy of the nation. Third paragraph of the article devoted to explain the basic information like area, its characteristics, population, production in agriculture etc. The author has referred large area for the study of geological setting of the Jordan. He noted that the first geological map of part of Jordan was published in 1847. From this map Improvement in geological mapping is going on.
The description regarding these resources is given separately. He reviewed nature, distribution and exploration with aerial and temporal difference of phosphate. The distribution of phosphate is depicted in the map also. The balance between production and potential is given at the end. The soil characteristics and cropping pattern is give with role of human activities. In the estimation of the soil potential he used number of references of work done regarding soil in Jordan and abroad. For the appraisal of groundwater resources he used climtological data for 177 stations. It is also coincided by data recorded for runoff in NASA. The map showing soil and ground resources is more appreciable to researched and useful for planning. He estimated the rough amount of runoff and groundwater storage in term of MCM/a for contemporary climatological condition. The records of acknowledgement are presents ethics of researcher. At the end of the article is given long list of references, which is used in body of the text. He used enough data and adopted suitable methods for analyses. The presentation of the results is quite good and useful to achieve growth in knowledge and planning for sustainable development.
