These days the
environmental pollution has increased so much that the very human existence is in danger. We find ‘Pollution’ of air, water, soil and noise. Trees are being cut at a much faster pace. It is a well known fact that trees have been man’s best friend and service providers since ages unknown. They not only purify
air but also absorb noise. Infact they absorb the warm
gases like CO2 and help maintaining the ecology of nature. They also serve as natural habitat to millions of animals and birds across the globe.
Various chemical
factories emit dangerously poisonous gases and smoke which heavily contaminate the earth’s atmosphere. More importantly the noxious gases being spewed out are sulphurous and nitrous carbondioxide and carbon monoxide. These play havoc with the nature. These when mixed with the watervapours in the sky form potentially
dangerous acid rains. These are known to denigrate the monuments in a big way and these are also dangerous for human health. Besides this there is non-stop burning of fossil fuels in various vehicles which not only puts great pressure on natural resources but also cause environmental pollution. Poisonous wastes from industrial units causes pollution of water bodies like ponds, rivers, lakes and seas. The marine life is also greatly affected with the spillage of crude oil from tankers causing oil slick. Besides this the toxic effluents from the factories also makes the land infertile and water unfit for human consumption. There is large content of pesticides and chemicals in water which can play a havoc with lives of people. Due to this crops refuse to grow.
noise is a major cause of concern as far as pollution is concerned. It is perhaps the most dangerous kind of pollution. There is constant use of pressure horns and audio-appliances being played at music shops or religious functions. This is a real and potent danger.
All this has made life unbearable. That’s why, metropolitan cities have become death traps. Millions of people are suffering due to respiratory diseases which have increased manifold. Soon people living in the urban areas will have to wear masks we will see ‘Oxygen and fresh air bars coming up’ which will cater to the needs of such citizens.
So the call of the hour that this increasing pollution of the biosphere is checked at the earliest. Already our cities are too polluted. Environment friendly steps like active afforestation should be taken. Factories and industries should be fitted with chimneys at the top. Wild life must be conserved. Fossil fuels should be conserved and alternative sources of energy should be tapped to meet the daily needs of electricity, like nuclear, wind, solar etc. Mother earth’s environment should be made greener ever and free from this man-made menace.
