Four novel
polyoxometalates constructed from
amantadine and a series of polyoxometalates <1∶10 (Ln∶W) and 1∶13 (Ni or Mn∶V)>, which can be formulated as K4(C10H18N)5CeW10O36?2H2O (APOM-5), K4(C10H18N)5PrW10O36?2H2O (APOM-6), K3(C10H18N)4NiV13O38?H2O (APOM-12) and K3(C10H18N)4MnV13O38?H2O (APOM-13) respectively, have been
synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy methods. The antivirus
activity of the synthesized compounds was investigated on the
inhibitory effect against both
influenza types A and B in Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK). It indicates that APOM-13 had significant inhibitory activity against both A and B and APOM-12 had inhibitory activity against both A and B only in high concentration but it was not remarkable in low concentration. APOM-5 and APOM-6 have effectively activity against influenza A but not significantly to- wards B. In addition, it was found that APOM-12 and APOM-13 exhibited good inhibitory effect on MDCK cytopathogenic effect (CPE) that was infected with influenza virus and the inhibitory activity was more evi- dent in higher concentration.
