MY VIEW INTO
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING; AND HOW I WILL FUNCTION IN A GROUP OF
PROFESSIONALS Product development means introducing new product or creating an improvement in the existing one. It is the continuous
process of innovating and inventing new ideas and concepts. There are two paths involved in the process: one involves the idea generation, product design, and detail engineering; the other involves market research and analysis.
In product development, AutoCAD adds value to the core technology of the design during the five-phase approach to design: Idea Generation and Screening - idea is the beginning of the product development cycle, Concept Development – Hand sketches, AutoCAD sketches are used to present the ideas; The Layout – layout becomes a dimensional reference from which the product’s spatial relationships are evaluated.
engineering data, such as centre of gravity, mass moment of inertia, weight, and volumes, are easily extracted from the model, The Prototype - AutoCAD is used to create detailed part drawing, orthographic, auxiliary, and cut section views of the model, Manufacturing - Mass production of the product begins here.
MARKETING plays a very important role in the ideation and implementation stages and is more than just selling and advertising. To successfully sell a new product, marketing requires product illustration and presentation graphics. AutoCAD can be used as the basis for creating the illustrations and graphics needed.
Product development process requires both engineering and marketing professionals; cross-functional
team is responsible for all aspects of the process. As an AutoCAD specialist, AutoCAD has the ability to visualize and pass information about the design easily and quickly to the rest of the design team to see what parts of the design might cause problems. Therefore I will work as an integral part of the team of professionals using absolute team work spirit in ensuring the successful achievement of the team’s goals and objectives within the specified period.
