The scale
integrator is the equipment that measures of instantaneous product
Flow in bulk that is being carried for a
conveyor belt. The product flow means the amount of mass for unit of time, for example, kilograms for second, tons per minute, etc. The flow is used to control continuous processes, informing if these processes are find between the minimum or maximum values defined for the operation. It is also used for the security of the transport equipment involved to prevent overloads. The scale, beyond measuring the instantaneous amount, also
integrates the amount of material that is passing, indicating the total of material already carried. The total of material carried is used for control of supply, payment of merchandises, control of
weight distribution in ships, etc. For attainment of the flow the scale integrator measures the weight by means of a simple
weigher bridge composed, most of the time, by two load cells installed on the support
rolls in the existing conveyor’s belt structure. The speed measure of the conveyor belt is done through a generator of pulse and a pulley leaned in the inferior part of the conveyor belt, next to the weight region. As soon as the conveyor belt enters in movement, the pulley moves too, because it is in contact with the conveyor belt. The pulse generator emits signals that are sent to an electric panel, where it converts the analogical signals for digital, the mathematical calculations, the indication of the values,
Integration and sending of the data for other equipment. Cares must be taken in the installation of the Scale Integrator: 1) The place of the installation of the scale must be exempt or isolated against vibrations. 2) The scale must be installed in the stretch of the transporter where the tension of the conveyor belt is lesser, and distant of causing mechanisms of tension variations. 3) The pulses generator must be installed on the center line under the load leather strap, before or after the weigher bridge, with a distance among three and ten support rolls. 4) The Installation of the scale must be in a certain distance of the loading point, ensuring that such material already finds accomodated in the conveyor belt. 5) The structure of the transporter must be continuous and sufficient rigid so that the alignment of rolls either kept under all the shipment conditions. 6) The region of the scale must be adequately environment protected against wind, rain etc. 7) The conveyor belt must also keep full contact with the weigher rolls and with the three rolls supports before and after the scale, exactly without load. 8) The emendation of conveyor belt does not have to cause any disturbance in the scale operation. 9) Rolls of the critical zone must possess inferior maximum eccentricity, and will have to be balanced. 10) The limiter screws of the load cell must be situated the same in side of the direction of movement of the conveyor belt. 11) The scale integrator must be calibrated with standard weights and with load static dynamically known, for the precision final adjustments. 12) Test of precision: to weigh in a static scale of guaranteed exactness, an amount enough of material to calibrate the integrator. An amount of product sends regards that lasts, at least, 10 minutes passing for the integrator. For example: for one it balances integrator of capacity of 60 tons per hour, in 10 minutes will have to be used 10 tons of product.
