WHAT`S THE CORRECT DIMENSIONATING OF THE GEOTEXTILES AS A FILTER APPLIED TO HIDRAULIC FUNCTIONS?
Many constructions use geotextiles as the filter without the correct dimensionating according the enginnering specifications.
This article brings a example of a building in that the geotextile is used to two functions: separation and filtration. In the project was putted that the constructor needed to use the geotextile as transition material between two soil layers, filtering the water that were accumulated in the adjacent soil.
However, the project was not studied if the fabric was not correctly projected and if the constructor used the correct type of the geotextile. Is noted that there is a increase of the worries in the use of the geosyntethics as the hydraulic material but the majority of these applications are wrong because there is not a correctly choice of the synthetic material. Some of them there aren’t a methodology to choice the right material.
Thus, the complete paper attempts to the correct methodology to choice the geotextile that will be used during the filtering applications. A review of some methodology used around the world are described and compared with the type of the fabric used in the building, according the methodology of the constructor.
The complete paper is being constructed to a future publication to a geotechnical journal.
