Realization
of large in scale trade center in areas of dense building development is often
connected with decision
to localize object on geotechnically degraded surface.
An example of this kind of popular investment presented in the paper is trade
center designed over deep, uncontrolled soil deposit wrongly classified as good
embankment. Design parameters of those soils wrongly estimated by geological
report brought to
foundations unexpected and unacceptable settlement under
their weight only at the very beginning of
construction process. Paper is
presenting geotechnical condition of substratum, decisions taken by designers
and whole cause-effect link which before end of construction works has created
the emergency condition of the structure.
