Steel
composed girders with sinusoidally shaped web are commonly used in Poland for a
few years, when their production
was started in Ruda Śląska under Zeman
license. Such girders are produced with web thickness tw = 2,0; 2,5 or 3,0 mm only, with the length of wave equal to 155 mm and
wave amplitude ±20 mm. Very high web’s slenderness (hw/tw up to 600) makes them much
lighter in comparison to girders with flat web, but thin,
corrugated web makes
additional difficulties during design stage. Paper deals with failure state of
roof
structure with corrugated web’s girders caused by failure of web under
local concentration load. Reasons of failure and also the way of strengthening
has been described.
