In order to evaluate safety
conditions of a structure a properly designed monitoring procedure is required.
The
basic safety criterion for larger structures with deep foundation, or
located in the area of sliding slopes is often expressed by horizontal
displacement value. The horizontal displacements may be measured by means of
inclinometers both on the surface of the structure and also in its parts
inaccessible for geodetic survey
measurements. The paper presents the
guidelines of
inclinometer measurements, applied equipment and its
installation. A number of examples of measurements have also been presented i.e.
safety evaluation of diaphragm walls constructed as a support of approximately
15 m deep excavation cut and also as an element of underground part of the
structure and 2 examples of inclinometer measurements for safety evaluation of
buildings in the vicinity of earth slopes.
