STRENGTHENING OF REINFORCED CONCRETE ROOF GIRDERS WITHIN THE MAN-STAR PRODUCTION PLANT IN STARACHOWI

Article Abstract by: toffi_75

Original Author: Tomasz Borsz
MAN
STAR Trucks & Buses Ltd., in connection with constant modernization and
development of the production
plant, ordered a repair works of roof girders in
the workshop no 9. Due to badly done previous works and to overload in the past
30 years, the technical state of the reinforced concrete girders can be assessed
as close to break down. It was judged due to observed scratches and cracks with
displacement (temporarily supported). Strengthening works were done for 12
four-spans girders, 3 of which had a crack with displacement in the middle
span. Repair works were done with composite bands based on resin with carbon
fibre, carbon fibre mats, local special steel stirrups connected to the girders
with stressing bars and on cracked girders special tendons unloading structures
including span and support deviators, anchorage blocks and prestressing tendons
