ESTIMATIVE METHODS FOR DETERMINING FLANKING AIRBORNE TRANSMISSION BY BUILDING STRUCTURES

Article Abstract by: toffi_75

Original Author: Barbara SZUDROWICZ
The
calculation methods of airborne sound insulation in buildings taking into
account flanking transmission are
given in the PN-EN 12354-1:2002 standard. On
the basis of these methods computer programmes intended for designers and
acoustic experts were developet. The application of these programmes in Poland
needs additional database including acoustical haracteristics of walls and ceilings
applied in Poland. It is also not possible to assume that these programmes will
be commonly used by architects and designers. The Acoustics Department of ITB
has deemed it necessary to develop an estimative method taking into account the
calculation principles according to PN-EN standards. The principle of the
estimative method is a listing of the values of corrections KA (KA=RA1-R’A1)
calculated according to PN-EN for cases most often used in practice. Forty five
tables have been compiled, encompassing almost 5000 situations. This data is
presented in a work to be published by the Building Research Institute at the
end of this year.
