The
phenomenon of summer moisture
condensation in three different roof
constructions in the climatic conditions
of the three Polish cities is
numerically analysed by means of the WUFI-POL computer code. The weather data
of the Typical Meteorological Year are used for defining the external boundary
conditions. An increase of moisture content in internal roof layers due to
summer moisture
condensation may cause a mould growth or biological decay of
wooden elements. The mould growth has been numerically analysed by means of the
recently developed computer code WUFI-BIO. The simulations showed that the
highest risk of bio-
degradation during summer exists in the central part of
Poland, and the lowest one in the seaside region. Effect of the internal
surface vapour diffusion resistance, the initial moisture content, materials
used for roof construction and the climatic data used in simulations upon the
mould growth has been also analysed.
