The
paper presents conclusions from many years of research on deformations of
asphalt concrete. As a result of
this research, it was found, that presently
used methods of static and dynamic creep are not sufficient to evaluate asphalt
concrete. Introduction of test modification, in form of lateral confinement,
evidently improves effectiveness of these methods in
evaluation of asphalt
concrete. In addition it was found, that in static and dynamic creep it is
advisable to use in evaluation of test results measures
describing rate of
creep instead of measures describing absolute deformation. In evaluation of
asphalt concrete resistance to deformation, it is worth to use not one but two
or a few testing methods, e.g. dynamic creep with lateral confinement and wheel
tracking test.
