Methods
of soil improvements used generally for the road and motorway engineering
structures as well as for the
founding of bridge structures are presented in
the article. Principles of granular soils densification are briefly discussed
and different methods of reinforcement,
strengthening and densification of
these type of soils are shown. Modern methods of ground
improvements used for
the fine grained or clayey soils are also shown in the article. Here, focus is
paid mainly to the methods like explosive compaction, jet grouting and deep or
shallow soil mixing. Applicable grain-size ranges for different soil
improvements methods are given.
