This study experimentally
investigated anchorage performances of 90-degree hooked beam bars in exterior
beam-column joints to be used in a middle story, using forty-three
column-shaped specimens with various arrangements of L-shaped beam bar
anchorage. It was concluded that the anchorage mechanism of raking-out failure
mode depends on
stress transmission consisting of arch action of the
concrete and truss action of the column hoops, the main factors affecting anchorage
strength are horizontal
development length, lateral
reinforcement ratio,
concrete strength and column axial stress, and estimations of anchorage
strength using our newly proposed formula, which takes into account the above
factors, have a high level of accuracy.
