The Rule And Laws Behind The Fundamental Operations of Algebra

Book Summary   by:eaglecry     Original Author: Edna G.Ofraso
ª

Solving Algebraic Expression is not easy but if we are familiar with the rule and laws behind it is simple as eating cake. Therefore, familiarity with the rule and laws of the Fundamental Operation is a steps to simplicity in solving Algebra.
Additon and Subtraction
Law 1:
The Sum of Two positive numbers is positive. The Sum of two negative numbers is negative.
Law 2:
The Sum of a positive number and a negative number is obtainable from the absolute values of the numbers. Thus, subtract the smaller absolute value from the larger absolute value and take the sign of the number with the larger absolute value.
Rule:
To be able to add or subtract Algebraic Expressions, we shall first consider wether the terms are similar or dissimilar(like or unlike terms)
If like terms, just combine the terms by Adding the Numerical coefficient. We shall apply the properties of real numbers like, associative, commulative and the distributive property.
Multiplication
Law 3:
The product of two numbers of like sign is positive. The product of two numbers of unlike signs is negative.
Law 4:
The product of polynomials is the sum of all the results obtained by multiplying all the terms of the plynomials by each term of the other.

Rule:
To multiply a monomial to a multinomial, simply multiply each term of the multinomial by the monomial. This is a direct application of the distributive property

To Multiply a multinomial to another multinomial. we apply the distributive property by multiplying the whole multiplicand by each of the term of the multiplier

Division

Law 4:
The quotient of the two numbers of like signs is positive. The qoutient of two numbers of unlike sign is negative
