There are three different cubes.
1) Sugar cube 2) dice 3) tea packet
Each object is a cube. So, these all are
cubical
objects. A cube has 12 edges. It has 8 vertices. At each vertex 3 edges meet. It has 6 faces.
Check the size of the faces of the cube. Put small cube on your note book. Hold tightly with your left hand. Use a sharp pencil. Trace its boundary on the paper. A figure a b c d is drowning.
Now place the face b c f e or any other face, on the figure a b c d. what do you find? All edges of a cube are equal. All faces of a cube are equal and plane surfaces.
The figure a b c d is a square. All its four sides are equal. By moving the pencil along the edge of any face, we get straight line. You may try it your self.
There is one book and a small box. These are in cuboids shape.
Each of the above objects has the shape of cuboid. These all are cuboidal objects. Like a cube, a cuboid has 6 faces. 12 edges and 8 vertices, but all its edges and faces are not equal. Only its
opposite edges and opposite faces is equal. Opposite edges are not visible in the figure.
Cube cuboid
Edges. 12. 12
Vertices. 8. 8
Faces 6. 6
Both have the same number of edges, faces and vertices. In a cube all the 6 faces are square. In cuboid, only 2 faces may be squares. Generally all these faces are rectangular in cubed. In cube, all the 6 faces are equal in size. In a cuboid, Pair of opposite faces only has the same size. All cubes are cuboid, but no cuboid is a cube.
It is a sphere.
A sphere has only face which is round. It surface is covered, not plane. A sphere has no edge. A sphere has no vertex.
That is cylinder has three faces, of which two are flat and the third is curved.
It is a cone.
A cone has two faces. One is flat and other one is curved. Model this for ice-cream cone.
