Tele is Greek ward which means `for off’. Telecommunication means long distance communication by telephone, radio. Etc. most of to day’s long distance communication is electronic. This type of communication is very fast because the sound and picture signals travel as electric currents or as radio waves.
The telephone is now a valued means of communication in isolated areas and in the lives of busy city people.
The telephone as we know it to day was invented by two people independently. There were Elisha gray and Alexander graham bell. Bell’s telephone was more effectives than that of gray. from the ordinary telephone we now have the cellular phone and the satellite phone. We have caller identity phones and phones where we can see the caller on a small monitor.
Communication is one of the most important activities of the human life. We communicate to share feelings, ideas, information and necessities. We can communicate by marketing or writing. The process of talking and writing and understanding other’s messages is known as communication.
Now-a days mobile phone are used to talk and send messages to people. These can be carried along where we go. Wireless is used by army and police in remote areas.
The live events taking place in any part of the world are brought to us through satellites. Communication has become fast and easy by satellite. We can send a written message or photographs through internet instantly. To day computer is an important means of communication. We can also fax messages and pictures to others.
In ancient days, people passed on the messages to other places by beating drums. Pigeons were also used to carry messages from one place to another. Later, man walked large distance or used on animals to send messages. This processes used to take ling time.
To day there are many means of communication. Modern means of communication are very easy and fast. The most popular means of communication are letters. We can write letters on post cards, inland letters or stamped envelopes. These we can get from the post office. After writing, we drop the letter in the letter box. Our letters are carried to our friends and relatives by bus, train, aeroplane or ship. These take post or courier to send important and urgent letters. By telegram our message reaches in few hours.
We can know about many people at different places at the same time through news papers, radio and television. We call it mass media. Messages through newspaper take one day to reach people. News programs and messages fro all over the world can be seen and heard on the radio or television immediately. Through radio and television we can listen and watch important events happening anywhere in the world. Educational programs can also be seen and heard on television and radio.
