Not gold but only man can make a nation great and strong. Man’s ability to work and Make use of the natural resources for the betterment of the society is called the human resource.
There are many natural resources available in different parts or our country.
So the prosperity of a country lies in the hands of the people who strive hard to exploit the minerals and other natural resources, witch are gifted to them by God.
Our country has abundant natural resource. If they are properly used, we can be one among the most developed nations. Proper utilization of resources depends upon wise, skilful, healthy hard working men.
Water is an important natural resource. We need water for our drinking, bathing, cooking cleaning and washing clothes. We need water for agriculture.
The main source of water is Rain. But we get rain only for two three months in a year. Some times it dose not rain even during the rain season. Farmers mostly depend on rain water for agriculture. Several irrigation projects have been introduced to prevent shortage of water.
We have developed many means of irrigation. The methods of irrigating land are canals, tube-wells and wells, tanks and dams.
A barrier constructed across a river to store water is called a dam. Canals are man-made. Canals are the channels built to divert the river water to the distant fields where there is insufficient water.
The underground water is used through wells and tube wells. The ground is hard in the southern plateau so it is difficult to dig wells. People store rain water in big tanks or lakes.
In India we have a very large population. Nearly fifty thousand children are born in India every day.
Our present population is much more than doubles of what it was at the time of independence.
Now it has crossed 100 crore. Despite all steps taken to control it, India’s population has been growing every year. India is the second most population country in the world.
After independence a lot of efforts have been made develop our resources. Resources develop plan have been implemented in India. Progress has been made in agricultural and industrial production. Many factories have been set up. The breeds of the cattle have improved. Our production has also increased three-fold. A large number of schools, collages and hospitals have been opened. We can see prosperity in every field.
However at the same time, our country’s population has also increased manifold. This increase in population has caused problems for our country and people. Large families find it difficult to educated and feed all the children in the family. Children stay at home or start working for their living. This leads to illiteracy and poverty.
