EXPERIMENT -1 LAW OF FLOATATION WITH EGGS

EGG will sink in fresh water because fresh egg is heavier than the same volume of fresh water and if the egg is not fresh it will float in fresh water because stale egg is lighter than the same volume of fresh water. Can we make a fresh egg float? Yea! It is possible to prepare a strong solution of salt that an egg will be lighter than the
brine displaced by it. Can we make the egg neither sink nor float like a submarine. Such a case the physicist would say the egg is "suspended". For suspension of egg in such away that it neither floats nor
sinks you need a solution of brine that egg submerged in it displaces exactly its own weight in brine. Now suspension of egg in water is possible by pouring in water if egg surfaces and adding some brine if it sinks. By this trial and error method you will end up where in it will neither surfaces nor sinks.
EXPERIMENT 2 INCOMBUSTIBLE PAPER- EXPERIMENTS WITH CONDUCTION OF HEATThis is an experiment in which paper strip doesn''t burn in the flame of a candle. Wind a narrow strip of paper tightly around an
iron rod. If you introduce the rod with the round strips into the flame of a candle, the paper will not catch fire. The fire will lick the paper but not burn down until the iron rod becomes hot. This is because iron rod just like any other metal is a good conductor of
HEAT, it leads away the heat obtained by paper from the candle flames. Replace the iron rod by a wooden stick and paper will burn because wood is a poor conductor of heat. With copper rod the experiment is more successful.
