I suppose its not often I get the opportunity to write about The Pope ... His Holiness .. The Head of The
Catholic Church
so I take refuge in You Tube. You Tube offers an insight into the Lives of the Popes in recent history i..e the late John Paul II and Pope Benedict the 16th the successor to the late Polish Pope.
There are quite extraordinary images of St Peter's Basilica and vast crowds massing outside where His
Holiness is standing in person. My memories of His Holiness and Popes throughout the last sixty years are always evocative of that Balcony and the waving scene or the Pope's Blessing.
Ratzinger now Pope Benedict the 16th has like his predecessor travelled widely .. though I recall in childhood that in times past the Pope didnt travel much and he was always a presence at The Vatican the Seat of St Peter's in Rome.
So it was odd for those of us who got used to that notion to watch these Popes travel far and wide from one continent to another. The Pope Benedict the 16th is quoted as saying that His Holiness wants rights to worship in Turkey which is a Muslim country. To me this sounds odd as the
Catholic would be a minority but then - facing the other way .. would the Muslim worship at The Vatican in Rome! I suppose stranger things have happened.
I have been in Italy several times and also in Rome and visited the Centre of the Catholic Faith,
but I have never had a personal inviation as yet to meet with His Holiness The Pope Benedict XVl ... perhaps my invitation is in the post ... will keep updated on this issue .. nice work on You Tube ...screening of The Pope!
