Christian Science Monitor blogged via Turkish digest relating an article from Reuters ... on the subject of a new really
modern mosque in Istanbul and the take that is stressed is that the
Architect is a woman .. known as ..Zeytep Fadillioglue who told Hurriyet Daily News ...her story about having women in mind.
The New Modern Mosque has got a colour scheme that the writer Carol Strickland waxes poetic about it as its torquoise ... which is a dashingly smart decor! Women when they enter the Mosque have to cover their heads and they are segretated from the men when they worship Allah in this new Modern Mosque... as the men worship shoulder to shoulder!
Their situation in terms of space is described as /cramped/
However, it is emphasised that under Turkish Law ... Secular Constitution ... women have equal rights with men ... so the Architect then who is a famous prize winner in terms of her outstanding abilities and talent is to be congratulated on this amazing design. Turkish Architect school statistics are 50 50 male to female!
Great work from Turkish Digest ...
