Sathya Sai Speaks Volume 13

Book Review by: santhanam nagarajan

Original Author: Bhagavan Sri Sathya Saibaba
Sathya Sai Speaks series is according to late Professor N Kasturi, the original translator and compiler, ‘a fragrant bouquet
of flowers that never fade or falter’.
This book, volume 13 consists of 39 discourses of Sri Sathya Saibaba during the period from 1975 to 1977.
All the discourses emphasize the values of Sanathana dharma. Truth, peace, righteousness, love and nonviolence are being preached by Sri Sahya Saibaba.
In the first chapter, ‘Culture –Agriculture’ , Baba emphasizes that India is a sacred land, whose glory has spread over all the continents, whose sons and daughters have won by their material and spiritual excellences eternal fame amidst all mankind.
The chapter, ‘Not twice, but thrice’ explains the main objective of the Saythya Sai Organaisation. The ideal one should keep in his mind is to help man to recognize the Divinity that is inherent in him. But this divinity is latent; it is veiled; it is not always apparent to oneself or others.
The chapter, ‘Parents Beware’ warns the parents not to set bad examples uttering falsehood, scandalizing others, gambling, drinking, behaving violently, inflicting injury, becoming addicted to night-clubs, pictures and drinking parties, quarrelling at home after arriving home past mid-night.
The chapters ‘Naaraayana Seva’, ’Advice to Seekers’, ’The Middle Path’, ‘The basic error’, ‘The brother among brothers’ are all very interesting.
A glossary is also added to provide comprehensive and detailed explanation of the more important Sanskrit words for the benefit of lay readers. This would also beneficial for the foreigners too who could clearly understand more clearly the topics of Baba’s discourses covering a wide spectrum of Vedic Philosophy.
Short stories, similes, Vedic quotes are all intertwined in these discourses.
For the devotees of Saibaba, this book is a must. For ardent seekers of Truth, this book will be a value added addition. One can buy this book and benefit himself to the maximum extent possible.
