ABSTRACT – THE POETRY KIT website http://www.poetrykit.org/ This is undoubtedly the best resource page for aspiring and established
poets on the internet. The Poetry Kit centres around a reading-critiquing workshop on which poets can test their new work on other poets. The constructive feedback available is second to none. The PK list also lists most of the poetry slams, workshops and performance events in Britain, and internationally. There are online themed poetry events,, and several projects such as Caught In The Net, which features a chosen and deserving different poet each month. Back issues are freely available to browse and download on the website itself. There is also the Transparent Words poetry magazine produced on and by Poetry Kit, another resource for poets to showcase their talents. There is an annual poetry award from PK, which could well become the Poetry equivalent of the Oscars. Poetry publishers, bursaries, courses, workshops and events receive attention here. There is up to date news on poetry competitions and much more besides receive
regular updated listings, and most poets on the list have links here to their own websites and samples of their own personal often highly accomplished publications. The list provides a regular newsletter, and is a part of an extensive poetry web-ring. The list can lead the professional and amateur poet alike to greater glory and much coveted
recognition. Many poems go from a critiqued reading on the PK list to receive wider circulation. A bookshop promotes many of the leading current titles in poetry The poetry discussion list which runs on e-mail is the Poetry Kit’s greatest asset, and it can get very busy. Membership is free, and even if you don’t write poetry yourself, you get to read a great deal of high quality material here. You may well be browsing one day in your local bookshop and happen to notice that they stock work penned by a poet you encouraged on the list. Highly Recommended.
