DRINK EBONY

Book Review by: educaweb

Original Author: Frank G. Slaughter
rink ebony
Frank G. Slaughter is large specialist popular writer «Drink ebony»
is one of his treasures which deliver us an authentic jewel.
Doctor Michel Stone is captured and obliged to work on a boat which makes the draft of slaves. Disgusted, his succeeds in escaping. But is to find himself in Florida of 1817, still under domination Spanish and invaded by adventurers. Stone will see himself mingled with events violent one which will lead at the beginning of the Spaniards and the passing of Florida under the American authority.
All that can appear traditional, and this novel is one. However, it is necessary to look at the year of its publication, 1949, to find reasons for astonishment. Initially the sex and the women of this history represented noble aristocrats or beautiful mongrel. It was an approach sexuality without any turning. They assert the sexual pleasure as much as the men. Then, there is the description of slavery. The author, documented obviously well, paints a seizing picture of the horror in which the slaves lived. Then Insupportable pages followed. Yes, in 1949, this book was to really appear daring, even pioneer.
Blazing, dazzling, enthralling, “ebony Wood” are the true one and great popular literature, like one does not make any today.
