PC banking, also called home
banking or remote banking, is and has been a very hot issue over the last several years. It is one of a very few
major technologies that has the potential to change the way both
personal and business customers interact with banks. Certainly at some point PC banking will be a major delivery channel equal to or greater than the current ATM, telephone, and personal branch delivery channels. There are 2 primary reasons banking will proliferate in the future: 1. the inevitable development of the Internet into a major communication channel and 2. the proven fact that most customers in most business environments prefer self-service when personal provided services cost more. Any solution implemented today will have a net cost to the bank. Once a system has been selected and an implementation schedule has been identified, the
bank must decide how to roll out the product and how to market the product.
